Sanborn Image QC™
Sanborn Image QC™ is a proprietary online QA/QC tool that provides a central location for Sanborn customers to review, flag issues, and track quality control calls related to an orthoimagery program. Data is served from a central data server at Sanborn to the customer-side computer and uses a mapping interface from within a standard web browser.
Sanborn Image QC™ makes imagery available for client review in an online viewer immediately after processing, dramatically increasing efficiency in the QA/QC process. Sanborn Image QC™ further reduces QA/QC turnaround times by eliminating the need for shipping hard-drives containing data to client sites.
As the orthoimagery is being reviewed, customers can mark tiles as accepted, create bookmarks to continue review over multiple sessions, and flag problems by drawing points or polygons for correction. During all interactions, comments can be easily entered describing questions or concerns. Edit flags and comments are stored in a centralized location and are available for review by the project team and by Sanborn technicians. Sanborn Image QC™ provides real-time email notifications when new issues are created, and Project Managers and clients receive daily email reports updating the status of all relevant issues. To further streamline the process, report recipients can click on hyperlinked issues within notification emails and are taken directly to review the flagged issues within the viewer.
For customers requiring a high guaranteed uptime (Service Level Agreement), the Sanborn Image QC™ website and data can be hosted in the public cloud. Global load-balancing technology is configured in such cases to distribute incoming requests across pools of instances, achieving maximum performance, throughput and availability.

SANBORN IMAGE QC™ FUNCTIONALITY
Sanborn GeoServe™ has been developed and maintained in-house by a team of qualified Sanborn geospatial software developers. Imagery for QC is served from a central image server to the client-side computer within a mapping interface viewable through standard web browsers.
- Imagery is tiled using lossless compression to speed transmission across the internet
- Flagged issue data is stored using an Open Source PostGIS geospatial database
POST-PROCESSING DELIVERABLES
After Sanborn Image QC™ is effectively used and the client is satisfied with the imagery, the project will be delivered in one of three ways:
- Traditional hard drive or DVD delivery
- FTP or through the Google Cloud
- Streaming imagery into any OGC-compliant software as a WMS/WMTS
