Photogrammetric Digital Aerial Camera (1)
Orthoimagery is acquired employing a large-format digital aerial camera to collect nadir (straight-down) ground views in a single multi-pass flight plan.
IMU (2)
Inertial Measurement Unit – Measures attitude (pitch/yaw/roll) of aircraft every .002 second.
Aerial GPS (3
Global Positioning System –Based on GPS satellite triangulation, measures the location of the aircraft every 0.5 second.
Ground GPS (4)
Measures the location of the aircraft every 0.5 second relative to a known ground position.
PROCESSING FOR ORTHOIMAGERY
After acquisition, production of orthoimagery begins with orthorectification software techniques to correct geometric distortions inherent in digital aerial imagery. This process turns the imagery into a true mapping product. Rectified imagery then goes through mosaicking and radiometric corrections, which create one seamless database with uniform and realistic color characteristics from all acquired individual images for a project area. After rigorous quality-control procedures along each step of the way, required corrections are made to the imagery, and the database is tiled and (if required) compressed to each project’s specifications for client delivery.
