In an effort to support the availability of accurate
map information concerning the current wildfire crisis
in California, Sanborn is providing up to date maps
of fire perimeters showing wildfire risk. Risk data
is provided from Sanborn's California Wildfire
Risk Information Product (WRIP).
Sanborn conducted a wildfire risk assessment in 2006
for the entire state of California. The results from
this assessment provide detailed and accurate information
on wildfire threat (annual likelihood of a wildfire
occuring in an area), fire behavior potential, and susceptibility
for severe damage. The WRIP data is used by fire professionals
for mitigation planning, prevention efforts and emergency
response. Wildfire risk maps are provided for each large
California fire.
Fire perimeter maps are provided for San Diego and Los
Angeles counties showing the location of fires within
the county. In addition, individual fire perimeter maps
are provided for each large fire as they become available.
Fire perimeters have been obtained from government agencies
that are coordinating emergency response and firefighting
efforts. These maps will be updated as new fire perimeters
are made available. These maps are provided to help
communicate current status and wildfire potential to
support public safety. Click on any of the thumbnail
images to see large size maps.
